The Museo de la Platería (Silverware Museum) is located within the Hotel Santo Domingo complex in Antigua, Guatemala. It houses an impressive collection of silverware, jewelry, and other precious metal artifacts from the colonial era, including religious objects such as chalices and monstrances, as well as secular items like snuffboxes and perfume bottles.
The museum is open to the public and offers guided tours that provide visitors with historical and cultural context about the items on display. The building that houses the museum is a former convent and has been beautifully restored to its original colonial splendor.
In addition to the museum, the Hotel Santo Domingo complex offers a variety of other amenities, including a restaurant, bar, spa, and gift shop. The hotel is also known for its lush gardens and outdoor spaces, which provide a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle of Antigua’s streets.
Please note that many of the entrance fees for landmarks, parks, and museums are subsidized by the government for Guatemalan citizens. You may notice a price difference for foreigners.
