This is such a beautiful little museum. As a lover of the Guatemalan culture and Mayan ancestry- this tour is a must!

The guide is so sweet and friendly and spoke incredible English. He is very knowledgeable about everything!

I loved to see the range of the different patterns each individual town in Guatemala has. It’s so beautiful to see how the Mayan culture still exists today and how it has been passed down through the generations.

I also got to make a traditional corn tortilla which is much harder than they make it look!

If I had more time I would come back to learn how to backloom myself! Maybe next time ♥️♥️♥️

Fantastic place to visit to see how the backstrap loom works as well as the diversity of Mayan textile designs. The tour is offered in both English and Spanish and it's 20Q per person. I really enjoyed it. There's also a store where you can buy anything you like but there is no pressure to buy.

I was lucky enough to hear about this museum before coming to Guatemala, and it was absolutely one of the highlights of my whole trip. The museum has such beautiful and wide-ranging examples of all the traditional textiles and costumes, and Danilo the manager and guide has SO much interesting information. He is so generous and kind with his time. I spent hours exploring everything they have, as well as the incredible shop full of treasures. I then went back the next week to have a 4-hour backstrap loom workshop to make my own weaving, and had the most brilliant teacher and experience. 100% recommend if you are into textiles and culture, don't miss it!

It's a very small museum which is operated privately. The tour guide spoke very good English, was patient, and not pushy at all for sales despite them selling locally handwoven fabrics. They have a reasonable collection of various local hupile forms and designs from across Guatemala and let you take your time while answering your questions along the way. I got to know of brown cotton and saw it in real life there. We even bought a very nice shawl which was reasonably priced, especially compared to the touristy parts of antigua, and with the confidence that this is actually handwoven in Guatemala instead of some factory across the world.
