El Comalote

El Comalote 4a Calle Ote. 44C, Antigua Guatemala

El Comalote is more than just a restaurant. This is a place where you can learn about the most important staple of Guatemalan cuisine, corn. The centerpiece of El Comalote is the ”Heirloom Guatemalan Corn” or ”Maiz Criollo” in Spanish. This is the first and only tortilla shop in Guatemala where you can find tortillas made with four kinds of corn.

Also, upon reservation, there are workshops, 5-course tastings in a ceremonial setting, and experiences around Maiz Criollo that can enrich your visit to Antigua Guatemala and allow you to learn more about corn and its importance in Guatemalan culture and Mayan cosmology.

Guest Reviews:

10/10. Food is super delicious (ended up eating here a few times!) – their tacos are made in house & probably best we tried in Antigua, & would highly recommend the ‘tacos vegetarianos’ for anyone, so good!! The vibe also is awesome – all the chairs & tables are painted with colour and the music is good. Highly recommend eating here.” -Sarah Locky

A perfect place for breakfast or lunch, with YUMMY authentic Guatemalan tortillas, queso, and more. And the women that work there are lovely, adding more color to this already very colorful environment! Con mucho gusto!” – Jasmine Ober
